The national cross-country championships returned to the North East this year, with Sedgefield hosting this landmark event. It was fantastic to see three young Blyth superstars challenge themselves against the very best in the country.
In the U15 boys race, Mac finished in a fine 257th place, whilst in the U13 boys race Richard placed 169th, with Dylan 219th. Well done to the boys!

Last weekend, five of our juniors had been selected to represent Northumberland Schools at the School’s Inter Counties cross country champs held at Sedburgh, Cumbria. On a hilly, wet and muddy course all five performed admirably. Sam Porter and Dylan McAteer finishing 22nd and 42nd respectively in the Minor boys 2.8k race. In the Intermediate boys 4.5k event Dexter Heatley finished a courageous 54th after almost not running due to illness, George Bryce ran a solid race to finish 27th and 7th Northumberland counter. Also in the Intermediate boys Alastair Johnson had a remarkable run, finishing 7th overall and 1st Northumberland runner home. Now we wait to see if either Alastair and George are selected to run for Northumberland at the national championships.

At the national indoor age group Champs in Sheffield, both Hollie-Anne and Katy were at their absolute best, recording PBs and club records. Meanwhile, 4 of our hammer throwers received invitations to the first ever EA North And Midlands throws invitational, with Fearne, Bella and Ben being amongst the first athletes to compete in the new u16 age group. All three finished on the podium, with Ben setting a massive PB and Fearne taking the win. Kaitlyn competed as a senior for the first time, with a strong performance. A quick update on what our athletes have been doing all over the country. Didi was our only representative at Northern U15 Champs, and she had an incredible day in Sheffield. An indoor PB in the 200m, was followed by a new PB of 4.48m in the long jump. In the 60m, she progressed through the rounds, achieving a fantastic 4th place in the final with a new PB of 8.21s.
