It was another sensational weekend of athletics. Here is how the bank holiday weekend unfolded:

Scottish U17/Senior Champs @ Grangemouth

Katy Pang takes a brilliant 4th in the U17 80m Hurdles, with a PB of 11.92s in the final. It was a race which saw the British record smashed!

Sadie Parker moved up an age group to the seniors, and runs in the same 100 hurdles heat as current Olympic silver medalist Samba-Mayela, matching the French athlete to hurdle 1 as she recorded her fastest ever time 14.83 (+2.7). In the long jump, 5.67m gave Sadie 6th place in another international field.

Alfie Ward was also involved in an extremely high quality competition, with a best jump of 6.60m to take 9th in the senior mens LJ.

Lianne Slater had a busy weekend, taking 6th in the senior Discus, and 4th in the senior Shot Put.

Tartan Games @ Gateshead

There were some fantastic performances from the team on Sunday, as they made the most of a rare opportunity to compete at Gateshead Stadium. Alex was with in a fraction of PB's in all 3 of his events, as he took 1st place in the high jump and hurdles. Indy was also in great form, taking the win in the long jump, and was just outside his 100m PB. Kimi set a massive 1.5s PB in the 200m, as she won her heat in style, whilst Safia saved her best until last to record a long jump best of 4.15m, just outside of her PB.

Cumbria School of Hammer

Ben Compton set a new Personal best of 46.84m, as he continued his fantastic progression this season, whilst Fearne Bell also competed although was not at her best on this occasion.

Scottish U13/U15/U20 Championships

6 Team Blyth athletes made the long trip north to Aberdeen last weekend, for the Scottish National U13/U15/U20 Championships.

The throws squad were in stunning form again, with Fearne Bell become Scottish U15 Hammer champion 🥇 with a best throw of 42.36m in the 2nd round. There were silver medals for Kaitlyn Waddell (U20) 🥈 and Ben Compton (U15) 🥈, whilst Georgia Turner threw a seasons best to take 4th.

On track, Sarah Wright and Fearne both made it through the U15 75m Hurdles heats, but just missed out on the final. Kimi Ng went in the U15 100m, and just missed out on a place in the semi-final, but came back strongly in the triple jump, finishing in a fine 5th place with 9.18m on her event debut.

A huge well done to the team on a fantastic weekend, and thanks to @scottishathletics on another fantastic event.

England Athletics Age Group Championships

3 Team Blyth athletes made the trip to Birmingham, looking to make their mark against the best in the UK.

Ben Compton produced 45.31m in round 3 of the u15 boys hammer to take a fantastic bronze at his first EA age group Champs.

Fearne Bell had qualifying standards in both the hurdles and hammer, and challenged herself by taking part in both events. In the hurdles, she was not quite able to match her usual pace, whilst in the hammer she finished fractionally outside the top 8, but will have learned lots.

Katy Pang went in a scintillating U17 hurdles heat, and took 5th place which was not quite enough to make it through to the final.

Well done to all three!
