Team Blyth are very proud to now have 4 athletes studying and continuing their athletics journey in the USA, having earned scholarships as a result of their athletics achievements. All four, aged 18, have been with the club since 2019 or earlier, and provide a fine example of what can be achieved through hard work, commitment and a focus on long-term development.
Lauren Creaby is now into her 2nd year at the Stephen F. Austin University in Texas, and recently returned home for summer where she has smashed her 800m personal best and become the first Blyth female to run sun 2:10. Sadie Parker headed out 2 weeks ago to New Mexico, where she is looking push past 6 metres in the long jump and beyond, and she will no doubt thrive with this new challenge. Luke Picher has spent just over a week in San Antonio, Texas, with our England international Decathlete ready to take on the challenge of a new training environment, after 10 years of training with Blyth. Senna Gorvett was the last to fly out this weekend just gone, and she is studying in Indiana. Our English School’s champion will be looking to build on an incredible 2026 season, and will be continuing with both 400m and Heptathlon. We wish our fantastic four all the best in the USA, and look forward to them returning for their holidays!
