STEVEN WALKER
Our longest serving junior coach and a true stalwart of Blyth Running Club, Steve is a highly experience performance level endurance coach, who has coach athletes to success at national level. Well known for his challenging but hugely rewarding sessions, Steve is also a highly qualified track judge and regularly can be seen on track keeping charge of event proceedings. |
EMMA PRINGLE
As a former international triple-jumper, Emma brings a wealth of experience. She now runs her own business - All-Round Athletic Development - and this is where many of our young athletes undertake their Strength and Conditioning training once a week. Over the last 5 years we have grown our relationship with Emma, and she has been an integral part in helping our athletes achieve success at the highest level |
CRAIG HARMON
Our youngest UKA Athletics Coach, Craig has an endurance background and also is developing his coaching experience in speed, hurdles, jumps and throws. Craig is also our senior T&F team manager, and has helped the squad to its highest ever league placing. Craig's role in giving genuine progression from junior section through to senior level cannot be underestimated. On track, Craig is setting regular PB's over the middle distances and has challenged himself at county championships. |
ROB WILSON
Rob is a UKA Athletics Coach with specialism in Combined Events, and has undertaken many additional workshops and courses to develop his knowledge. He has completed 4 x full marathons, 1 ultra (55k), and was NEMAA 800m silver medallist in 2018, silver medallist over 400m 2019. Rob is passionate about getting to know and developing young athletes to reach their own potential and hopefully develop their lifelong love of the sport. Love to work with and solve together the myth of "I can't", into the realisation of "I can!" and "I am!". Rob was the England Athletics North East Coach of the year Runner-up in 2022, and has coached athletes to international level. |
DANIEL NJAI-ROWNEY
UKA Registered Athletics Coach. Event Group qualifications in Sprints/Hurdles and Jumps (level 3/4). Have been coaching since 2013 initially working with foundation/fundamental level athletes before establishing the Blyth High Jump Academy and following the speed/combined events pathway allowing athletes to have opportunities to achieve at local, regional and national level. 6 times NECAA Champion over Sprint hurdles and 400m hurdles between 2015-2019, has competed at AAA English Senior Championships and has a best finish of 4th at Northern Champs. Northumberland Schools Combined Events Team Manager. 2016 England Athletics North East Volunteer of the year, and 2023 Coach of the year runner-up. |
NIGEL GORVETT
For the last few years Nigel has been building his coaching experience, and now has taken on the role of developing our youngest track and field athletes, whilst also leading our senior sprint group. Nigel is a top current Masters athlete, and is brings a wealth of enthusiasm, understanding and compassion to the track when he coaches. |
MATTHEW FAIRHURST
One of our current junior athletes, Matthew is also a UKA Coaching assistant and specialises in throws, both in competition and coaching. Matthew gives up 3 hours on Mondays to coach throws and multi-events to a wide variety of age groups, and also volunteers regularly at local events. He is a fine role model to all. Matthew is a talented Javelin thrower, and has won multiple championships and is the overall club record holder. |
CHLOE BARRASS
Chloe is a UKA coaching assistant and is a huge asset to Blyth Running Club, coaching and volunteering regularly. Chloe has also progressed down the officiatiing route, and is a photo finish operative! On track, Chloe has in recent years become an accomplished 400m hurdler, and has achieved huge improvement recently, taking the club record and winning championship medals. |
